Determined more than ever to complete my dissertation, this blog is intended to chronicle my efforts and provide the needed accountability to finish what I have begun. The journey began with a prompt from my erstwhile sister and trailblazer over 5 years ago. She challenged me to think of a topic or subject that fascinated me so much that I would be willing to spend several years interrogating it.
What an intriguing thought! Of course having spent a significant amount of time in Japan working in the midst of a multicultural organization, I immediately began to ruminate on the particularities of the international working environment. Of particular note was the manner in which Japanese behaviors differed from Western ones. The sucking in of air (tsuuuuuuu) when confronted with a perplexing situation immediately came to mind. Over time, I eventually came to understand this to mean not possible (dekimasen) or difficult. From this small thought, I became ensnared.
So began my academic pursuit...and here I am almost at the end of my journey at the writing stage - feeling alone, bewildered, and overwhelmed at what lays ahead.
